I put one of those "New China" struts on my car, now the car handles funny going over a bump

If you have an O.E.M. strut on one side and one of those cheap China struts on the other, the problem may be due to the China strut having a different dampening system. The O.E.M. strut has adjustable dampening that the module controls depending on driving conditions (hard braking, evasive steering, etc.) by way of an actuator on top of the strut. While driving down the highway, the dampening system would be in the "soft" position, which will give you the softest most comfortable ride. But if your braking hard or performing an evasive maneuver, it will quickly and automatically go to "firm" for better control.

These new China struts do not have this feature, as they ARE NOT adjustable. The vehicle will ride the same at 55 as it does driving in a parking lot.

Your options are to either purchase a China strut for the other side, or replace the China strut with an O.E.M.

ALWAYS PUT THE SAME TYPE OF STRUT/SHOCK ON BOTH SIDES!
