MY
MARK VIII DRIVES STIFF
The
first thing that you need to do, is to find out which end the stiffness is coming
from. You can determine this by driving over a speed bump. As you slowly go over
the bump, compare the stiffness between the front and the rear.
If
the stiffness is allot worse in the front, most likely your front struts have
an internal binding problem that Mark VIII's are notorious to have. Again, drive
the car over a speed bump, but this time, drive over the bump with only the left
side, then the right side. You should be able to tell pretty easy which side is
giving the problem. As with shocks, I recommend replacing the struts in pairs.
If the stiffness
is more in the rear, most likely the shocks are binding internally and need
replacing. Again, drive the car over a speed bump, but this time, drive over the
bump with only the left side, then the right side. You should be able to tell
pretty easy which side is giving the problem. I recommend replacing those in pairs
also.
