The
rearend is down and the compressor is running
If the compressor is coming on, this means the module, or "brain", is
working properly and is trying to raise the vehicle. (this is actually a good
thing) The first thing to do is to try to decipher if you have an air leak or
if its a bad/weak compressor.
NOTE:
Especially if you have a 4x4, inspect the line
union joining the 2 air lines together around the brake master cylinder. If
it is cracked or split, replace it and continue. Even if it isn't cracked all
the way, it WILL leave you on the side of the road one day.
If
the line union is not cracked or damaged, while unlikely, it could still
be a problem or leak in the remaining air lines somewhere. The problem could even
be that the fold of the rubber air bladder in the rear air springs has found or
exposed a crack and is now leaking more air out than the compressor can put in.
If the compressor IS running
and the rearend is down, the most probably reasons for the rearend not going up
and a way to check it is:
#1
Broken or Cracked Line Union
Replace
the cracked line
union.
#2 Bad
Compressor
Unfortunately,
the only accurate way to test this compressor
is with a gauge specifically made to check it. In theory, if there are
NO air leaks anywhere in the lines and NO air leaks in the air springs, the compressor
is most likely the culprit.
#3
Leaking Rear Air Springs
Jack
up the rearend with a floorjack JUST UNDER normal ride height. The turn
on ignition. If it comes up then, replace
the air springs.
#4
Leak in the air line somewhere
Use a soapy water solution to find the air
leak. When you see bubbles, thats your problem
