Installing Rear MARK VII(7) Air Springs REMOVAL 1) Turn suspension switch off. 2) Jack up rear of vehicle and put on jackstands and allow the differential to hang. (put jackstands under frame, NOT differential) DO NOT DISCONNECT SHOCKS! (The shocks limit how far the rearend will extend) 3) With a small blade flathead screwdriver, remove small thin solenoid safety clip. Now twist solenoid counterclockwise one step until it stops. Air "should" rush out quickly. Then twist solenoid to its next step and remove. 4) By now, all the air pressure should have been released out of the rear air springs. 5) Now, remove the 2 x 13mm bolts attaching the bottom of the air spring to the lower control arm. 6) Depress the thin metal lock tab on the top mounting ring while twisting the plastic lock ring counter-clockwise. The ring will twist then stop. Pull down and out on the air spring. We HIGHLY recommend replacing the solenoids OR at least resealing the solenoids when replacing an air spring. Click HERE for an explanation. INSTALLATION 1) It will be easier to install solenoid into air spring BEFORE installing air spring. 2) Place top of air spring into cradle. After aligning plastic lock ring, twist clock-wise until you hear the thin metal lock clip "click". (This may take a time or two to get the lock ring into the cradle tabs) 3) Pull the bottom of the air spring down and align mounting holes with the holes in the lower control arms. (It may be easier to raise the rearend slightly by way of a floorjack, to allow you to slide bolts in through the lower control arms) 4) Connect 2 pin connector and air line into solenoid. 5) Put a floor jack under the differential and raise the rearend towards the rest of the car, just slightly lower than its normal ride height. 6) Turn on ignition switch, then suspension switch. You should hear the solenoids opening(clicking), then the compressor should come on and start to fill the rear air springs. NOTE: If it doesn't, jack up the differential a little closer to the rest of the car. 7) After the compressor finally stops, jack up vehicle and remove jackstands. Resume normal operation. Tired
